Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,840.49, up 88.24 points):

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up 41 cents, or 7.55 per cent, to $5.84 on 7.8-million shares.

Athabasca Oil Corp. (TSX:ATH). Oil and gas. Down one cent, or 0.77 per cent, to $1.29 on 7.6-million shares.

Canopy Growth Corp. (TSX:CGC). Drug manufacturer. Up 47 cents, or 7.13 per cent, to $7.06 on 7.4-million shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Up 42 cents, or 1.11 per cent, to $38.38 on 6.8-million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 10 cents, or 2.87 per cent, to $3.59 on 6.3-million shares.

Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TCK.B). Miner. Down 51 cents, or 1.88 per cent, to $26.59 on 6.1-million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Canadian Pacific Railway (TSX:CP). Transportation. Down $3.90, or 1.94 per cent, to $197.41 on 542,132 shares. The railway reported Wednesday a third-quarter profit of $347 million or $2.34 per diluted share for the quarter ended Sept. 30, topping its result a year ago, but falling short of investors' expectations. On an adjusted basis, CP Rail said it earned $2.73 per diluted share as revenues fell nine per cent to $1.55 billion.

Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB). Oil and gas. Up 63 cents, or 1.08 per cent, to $58.79 on 1.4-million shares. Enbridge has cut hundreds of jobs across its operations following a company-wide organizational review. Canada's largest pipeline operator said Wednesday it has eliminated about 370 positions in Canada and about 160 in the U.S., making up roughly five per cent of its more than 11,000 staff.
