VERNON - North Okanagan and Shuswap residents will get a chance to learn more about their federal election candidates at an upcoming forum.

It’s still a month away, leaving ample time to mark the free event on your calendar.

Local candidates in the federal election will state their platforms and take questions in written form or open mic. With Conservative MP Colin Mayes not seeking reelection, the region is guaranteed a new face at the end of the election. Parties have already announced Jacqui Gingras will be running for the NDP, Cindy Derkaz for the Liberals, Mel Arnold for the Conservatives and Chris George for the Greens.

The forum will be held at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre in Vernon Monday, Sept. 14, starting at 7 p.m.

Pete McIntyre of 107.5 Kiss FM will be moderate the forum.

It's is free to attend, although donations are accepted for the Performing Arts Centre Society's Children's Theatre Fund. Any donations made will be matched by the society and used to purchase children's theatre tickets that will be distributed to families otherwise unable to attend performances.
