MAP: Kelowna continues to top Okanagan's most valuable property list

Kelowna's 'Rock House'

KELOWNA - For the second year in a row, Kelowna’s “Rock House” tops the Thompson Okanagan’s residential property list, with an assessed property value of $9.3 million. The value of the lakefront home at 4358 Hobson Rd. went down from $9.5 million last year.

Kelowna continues to lead the region in property values taking seven out of the top 10 spots. However, this number is down from last year where it held nine positions.

“Kelowna seems to have the most valued waterfront properties. The land value is just much higher than other places in the valley,” says Tracy Wall, Deputy Assessor for B.C. Assessment.

Although top place went unchanged, there was plenty of movement in values. A West Kelowna waterfront property, at 1683 Pritchard Dr., valued at $8.1 million, was second highest, compared to last year’s 17th.

The biggest drop from the top 10 came from another waterfront home at 4460 Lakeland Rd. in Kelowna. Last year the home was considered the second most valuable at $7.54 million; this year it's the 23rd most valuable at a mere $5.96 million.

“Values depend on multiple things. They can change if there has been renovation, or a permit application for a building upgrade,” Wall says.

Anyone can check the value of their own property using B.C. assessment’s online tool. For those who want to appeal their listing, they have until January 31st to do so. See map below for the Okanagan homes with the highest assessed values.
