Man in van allegedly threatened to steal young girls

KELOWNA - A man stinking of marijuana pulled his van over and threatened to steal a group of young girls on Ellis Street prompting police to issue a public warning.

The girls were walking and biking along a chain link fence outside Sutherland Park when the suspect, parked adjacent to the fence in a two-toned van, pulled open the door of his vehicle and said to the three girls aged 11, 13 and 15, "I'm going to steal you". The suspect made no attempt to move towards the girls and they left the area unharmed.

The man is described as 5'9" with a slim build, brown eyes, a beard, bald head, snake tattoo on his upper arm, varicose veins in his legs and he apparently also spoke with an unknown accent. He smelled of marijuana.

The van is described as an older model, two-toned van with red on top and maroon on the bottom with tinted rear windows.
