Man found dead in Vernon Creek identified

VERNON - A man found dead in a North Okanagan creek has been identified.

He was John Nickolas Holowaty, 47, most recently of Falkland, according to a media release from the B.C. Coroners Service.

Holowaty was found on the morning of Aug. 20 by two people walking along a trail between 24 Avenue and 34 A Street in Vernon. The pair found his body lying in Vernon Creek and immediately notified authorities.

“The B.C. Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate to determine the cause and manner of Mr. Holowaty's death. Foul play has been ruled out,” states the coroners service.

Holowaty’s family has been notified.
