LAKE COUNTRY - An Oliver man who allegedly dashed his cab fare made some bizarre choices that eventually led to his arrest for fraud and possessing stolen property.

The man, 29, climbed into the first cab in Lake Country, travelled to Vernon and back, then according to police, fled without paying the fare, leaving behind stolen property. The cab was turned over to police to investigate.

The man later climbed into a second cab that he rode to the Lake Country detachment and officers say he was in possession of more suspected stolen property. He was taken into custody without incident.

The man faces criminal charges of fraud, obstructing a police officer, possession of property obtained by crime and crime under $5,000. He was later released on a promise to appear in court April 7.
