Man suspected in Tappen break and enter remains at large

Salmon Arm RCMP detachment

SALMON ARM - RCMP arrested one woman and are still looking for a male, who they say are responsible for a possible break and enter in Tappen, Wednesday.

Salmon Arm RCMP responded to what they call a ‘disturbance’, where two males and a female were involved in an altercation regarding a possible break and enter in the area.

Before police arrived, the male and female suspects fled the scene, leaving behind a stolen vehicle containing possible stolen items. They also left stolen jewelry in a washroom garbage can.

Police service dogs were used to try and track the fleeing suspects. After identifying the suspects, police were able to locate and arrest the woman involved, however the male remains at large.

“The Salmon Arm RCMP would like to thank area residents who did contact police with reports of suspicious activity at the time we were looking for the male and female in the area,” Staff Sgt. Scott West said in a press release. “Under no circumstances should the public put themselves in harm's way to attempt to apprehend a suspect in any crime.”

The female was released in a bail hearing.
