CHERRYVILLE – A Lumby man pulled from the wreckage of his pickup in facing drunk driving charges after becoming combative with the people trying to help him.
RCMP say the man, 39, rolled his pickup on Highway 6 near Frank’s General Store around 10 p.m., Thursday, March 26.
After he was removed from the truck, he started fighting the firefighters and paramedics.
“He was transported to the hospital where he was still being combative with medical staff there as well,” Cpl. Henry Proce says in a media release. “He had to be restrained in order to be properly medically assessed.”
Proce says police needed a search warrant to get a blood sample because the man wouldn’t provide one voluntarily.
“When the blood samples are analyzed, our officers will then determine if charges of impaired driving will be laid in this case,” Proce says.
