KAMLOOPS -  Jose, animal ID 443582, came to the SPCA with his 'little brother' Prince, animal ID 443583, and are looking for a quiet family.

Both Jose and Prince are both timid dogs that need slow introductions and a quiet household, however, Jose is a big dog in a small dogs body, according to Jose's SPCA pet profile.

Even though Jose an be a little stand-off-ish with strangers, he is a little ball of fluff what enjoys hanging out with his brother and his people.

He is little and cute but has quite the personality. Most people think because he is a Chihuahua that he is a lap dog that wants to be carried around. This is not the case with Jose because he does not enjoy being picked up and coddled, and can be a fairly independent soul.

The SPCA says Jose is good with cats and has lived with children, however, they recommend a home with older dog-savvy children.

Jose's ideal home would be one with few visitors because he is wary of strangers. Also, he needs guardians who would be willing to help him get over the anxiety he feels when he is left alone by helping him get used to spending short times alone which can gradually increase in length.

Also, he can be unsure about new situations and people, so his new guardians will need to help introduce him to new and strange things in a calm and relaxed manner, according to the SPCA.

Jose is a cute little dog with a personality of his own. If you are looking to add a big dog trapped in a little dog's body to the family, come down and visit the shelter, call them at 250-376-7722, email the SPCA at kamloops@spca.bc.ca or visit the website for more information.
