KELOWNA - This year the Kelowna Art Gallery is undertaking an exciting project titled Preserves. This is a community-based initiative that will explore the history of Kelowna, and the stories of the people who have shaped the city. The results of this project will be shown in exhibition at the Kelowna Art Gallery that runs from November 7 to December 6, 2015.

We are looking for works by local artists who have considered the development, history, and heritage of Kelowna and the people who have shaped it. Artists may propose making works of art of any size or medium. The pieces will accompany shelves of mason jars filled with gelatin and preserved objects that indicate either memories from peoples’ past, or hopes and dreams for the future of Kelowna.

A jury will review artists’ submissions. An appropriate CARFAC fee will be paid to selected artists for their participation.

Submission deadline: Aug. 25, 2015

Interested participants are asked to submit a current bio, proposal description with drawings and/or images, and five images of their past work, by email only to kelsie@kelownaartgallery.com.

More information about the Preserves exhibition can be found online at www.kelownaartgallery.com/preserves.

The Kelowna Art Gallery is located at 1315 Water Street in the heart of the Cultural District in downtown Kelowna. For hours of operation, or more information about programs available or current exhibitions, please visit the Kelowna Art Gallery online at www.kelownaartgallery.com.
