Leaving town for the winter? Make sure you arrange for snow removal

WEST KELOWNA - It might seem early to be discussing this, but if you're one of those lucky people packing up to head south for the winter, the District of West Kelowna would like to remind you to arrange for snow removal.

Everyone, including snowbirds must comply with the District's Good Neighbour Bylaw, so every owner or occupier of property within the district must remove all snow and ice from sidewalks and walkways bordering their property within 24 hours of accumulation to ensure safe passage of pedestrians during winter months.

Anyone unable to clear their sidewalks and walkways must arrange for someone to do it for them.

West Kelowna residents can nominate their Snow Star who is a person who lends a helping hand to clear snow and ice, for recognition through the district's Snow Star Program. Each year nominated Snow Stars are entered to win a prize for their selfless efforts.

More information on the Good Neighbour Bylaw and the Snow Star Program can be found on the District’s website www.districtofwestkelowna.ca
