UPDATE: March 20, 2013 - 7:48 a.m.

The female youth who was reported missing yesterday was located last night and returned home safe and sound.

March 19, 2013 - 3:59 p.m.

Lake Country RCMP are looking for a young girl who went missing after running away from her home yesterday afternoon. Following a dispute with her family, 15-year-old Shelsey Leys left her house at 2 pm and has not been seen since.

Leys has autism, but is able to communicate well.

Friends and family have no clues about where Leys may have gone, and say it's the first time she's ran away from home. RCMP are using the following description to help locate the girl:

  • Caucasian, 5' tall, 90 lbs with a slim build
  • Light, sandy brown hair
  • Last seen wearing a blue jacket, skinny jeans and a light blue scarf
  • Shelsey left her residence on a small silver, pink and blue mountain bike.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Leys' whereabouts to call the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288.
