GUILDFORD, England - Alie Jimerson had five goals and an assist and Dana Dobbie had three goals and three helpers as Canada downed New Zealand 16-1 on Wednesday in quarter-final play at the 2017 women's lacrosse World Cup.
The Canadians will play Australia in the semifinals on Thursday.
Jimerson's six-point outing earned her the game's most valuable player. However, she was quick to acknowledge her teammates instead of her individual performance.
"Overall, it comes down to my teammates, they help me out a lot," she said. "Most of the goals I scored were assisted. I may have had one or two drives, but again, they cleared space for me so I could go through.
"It was a good team effort today."
Nine Canadian players hit the scoresheet in the win.
Erica Evans produced her second hat trick of the tournament, while Taylor Gait added a pair of goals. Kay Morissette, Danita Stroup and Crysti Foote rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.
The Canadians downed Australia 9-5 in pool play to begin the tournament.
"We opened up against Australia and it seems like it was a month ago," said Canadian coach Scott Teeter. "We're a different team now than we were on opening night. We've fine tuned our systems and we're playing more team lacrosse, and it's good to see."
