Kelowna Rockets fan scores

A Kelowna man's knowledge of team trivia has earned him the right to be called the Kelowna Rockets Ultimate Fan.

Brendon Shannon and two other fans were selected at random from the crowd at Prospera Place during the Rockets' 5-0 win against Prince George Saturday to compete for, then win the bragging rights. He also got a $50 pre-paid MasterCard and a Rockets team jersey with the Bank of Montreal Ultimate CHL fan crest. Mr. Shannon is also entered to win a grand prize trip for two to the MasterCard Memorial Cup next year in Saskatoon.

Festivities will be taking place in 40 communities across Canada as part of the BMO Ultimate CHL Fan Contest circuit from Oct. 23 to Dec. 12., 2012 to celebrate the 9.5 million CHL fans. Each event will recognize one BMO Ultimate CHL fan, and one BMO Ultimate fan in each league in the CHL (Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) will receive a grand prize.

The next Rockets battle is against Edmonton Wednesday night.

Test your own knowledge with the questions asked during the trivia battle:

1. Who was the captain for the Kelowna Rockets for the 2004 Memorial Cup Championship Game?

2. Of the current Kelowna Rockets coaching staff, which coach is a former Kelowna Rockets player?

3. True of false: a minor penalty will get you two minutes in the penalty box and a major penalty will get you five.

4. How many active 20-year-old players are the CHL teams allowed to have on their current roster?

answers: 1. Josh Gorges; 2. Kim Dillabaugh; 3. True; 4. Three.
