KAMLOOPS - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 2-1 in a shootout on Friday night, Jan. 10, in Kamloops, coming from behind for their 33rd win of the season.

Leon Draisaitl scored in his second straight game as a Rocket, firing home the tying goal with just three minutes to play in the third period. Draisaitl beat the Kamloops defenceman wide before going top shelf with the goal.

Rookie goalie Jake Morrissey earned the win in net, stopping six of seven shots in the shootout and turning aside 35 of 36 shots in the game.

In the shootout, Nick Merkley scored first to extend the shootout before Dillon Dube won it in the seventh round.

The win improved the Rockets record to a WHL-best 33-6-3-0 on the season as they return home on Saturday night for a game against Medicine Hat.

Rockets players Madison Bowey and Josh Morrissey will be back in the Rockets line-up on Saturday night, the first time they will have played together as Kelowna Rockets and first game since winning the World Junior gold medal with Team Canada.
