KELOWNA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2 at Prospera Place on Friday night, Dec. 4, winning its second straight game on a three game homestand.

Cole Linaker scored the first two goals of the game as Kelowna jumped out to a quick lead in the game and went on to victory.

The win improved the Rockets record to 21-6-1-0, good for first place overall in the WHL.

The Rockets jumped out to a big lead with two goals in the first and three more in the second period.

After Linaker staked Kelowna to a 2-0 lead, Tyson Baillie, Cal Foote and Lucas Johansen scored goals less than seven minutes apart in the second period to make it 5-0.

Nick Merkley, Joe Gatenby and Tomas Soustal each had two assists apiece.

Medicine Hat countered with a pair of their own in the third but couldn't close the gap any further as Michael Herringer earned the win in net, his sixth of the season.

The Rockets are back in action on Saturday in the team's final home game before Christmas as the Portland Winterhawks come to town.

It's the third annual Kelowna Rockets teddy bear toss with teddy bears thrown on the ice after the Rockets first goal, donated to Kelowna General Hospital.

Tickets are available for the game through www.selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
