KELOWNA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Portland Winterhawks 6-3 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, winning both games of a weekend double-header against the defending WHL champions this weekend.

The Rockets outscored the Winterhawks 12-5 over the weekend series, improving to 5-0-0-1, good for first place in the WHL Western Conference. Kelowna remains the only team in the WHL without a regulation time loss.

Rockets netminder Jordon Cooke was named first star for the second straight night, stopping 37 of 39 shots while Riley Stadel scored twice and now has four on the season.

Cole Linaker, Myles Bell, Damon Severson and Ryan Olsen also scored for the Rockets, who fell behind 2-0 early in the first period before Kelowna scored goals in 1:47 of the first to take a 3-2 lead into the dressing room.

Portland got within a goal at 4-3 early in the third, before Olsen and Stadel cemented the win with third period markers.

Kelowna beat Portland 6-2 on Friday night.

The Rockets are right back in action early next week as they hit the road to Spokane on Tuesday before returning to Kelowna Friday Oct. 11 for its next home game at Prospera Place against Seattle.
