KELOWNA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Spokane Chiefs 4-2 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, extending its home winning streak to eight games and improving to 16-1-1-0 on the season.
Jackson Whistle earned the win in net, while Rourke Chartier and Nick Merkley once again led the way offensively.
Chartier and Merkley sit one-two in WHL scoring after another solid outing as Chartier scored twice and now has a WHL high 17 goals on the season while Merkley continues to lead the WHL in points after scoring once and adding an assist.
Tyson Baillie also scored for the Rockets, netting his 13th goal of the season, the second highest total in the WHL.
The Rockets led 1-0 after the first period and 3-1 after two, before Spokane trimmed the Rockets lead to 3-2 early in the third.
But Baillie's goal and solid play from goalie Whistle kept the Rockets in the win column, keeping the team undefeated at home in its eight games at Prospera Place.
The Rockets complete a three game home-stand Saturday night at Prospera Place when they welcome BC Division rival Vancouver to town for a 7 p.m. start.
