Kelowna resident wins Travel Survey early-bird prize

KELOWNA – October 30, 2013: Have you completed your Okanagan Travel Survey? John Holland of Kelowna did — he tracked his trips for one day and won!

Mr. Holland is the early bird prize winner of a $1,000 shopping spree. Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray presented Mr. Holland with his prize on Thursday, October 30 at City Hall.

The prize is provided by Acuere Consulting, the company commissioned by the regional government partners to conduct the transportation survey.

The Cities of Kelowna and Vernon, the Districts of West Kelowna, Peachland, and Lake Country, the Westbank First Nation and the Regional District of Central Okanagan, have partnered to conduct the regional travel survey as daily travel pattern information will help design future transportation systems and corridors.

All Okanagan residents are asked to complete their travel survey, and there is still time to do so. The more people who complete their survey, the more accurate picture of how people travel in the region, allowing planners and engineers to design the best transportation system for the Okanagan. Your input will influence the way the transportation system is planned for the future.

Residents need only to log how they get around for one day. As a bonus for completing the survey, every household is entered to win one of a number of prizes, including:
- a grand prize of a $5,000 shopping spree,
- three $1,000 shopping sprees,
- $5,500 worth of gift cards,
- a weekend for a family of four (including lift tickets, lessons, lodging, rentals, tubing, and skating) at Big White Ski Resort plus opening day lift tickets,
- seasons tickets to West Kelowna Warriors, and,
- 60 $25 gift certificates from Kelly O’Bryan’s Neighborhood Restaurants.

Plus, every survey submitted supports the local United Way. For every completed survey, $1 will be donated to the local United Way (up to a maximum of $5,000).
