Kelowna police searching for SUV involved in Rutland shooting

KELOWNA – Mounties are looking for a grey GMC SUV that may be associated with a shooting in Rutland this morning, July 25.

Kelowna RCMP say shortly after 10 a.m. they responded to the 2700 block of Highway 97 North for a report of shots fired, RCMP spokesperson Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says.

"Police have learned that the male victim was shot in a lower limb and was then transported by a witness to hospital," he says.

RCMP are searching for a lowered grey, full-sized GMC SUV.

"The investigation is in its early stages, however the RCMP do not believe that this was a random attack," O'Donaghey says.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP GIS at 250-762-3300. Remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
