VERNON - A Kelowna man is facing charges after stealing a truck out of the Vernon Toyota dealership.

Last Wednesday, March 9, around 6:45 a.m. Vernon RCMP received a report of a white Toyota Tacoma stolen off the lot, Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says.

The vehicle was located a few hours later around 11:30 a.m. on Tronson Road.

“The male driver fled on foot,” Noseworthy says.

The police dog unit located the suspect and Kyle Lawrence, 23, of Kelowna was arrested.

"While officers were investigating the truck theft, it was determined that the man had also stolen merchandise from a local gas station," Noseworthy says.

Lawrence faces charges of theft over $5000, theft under $5000, and driving while prohibited.
