KELOWNA – It's official, the cool evening temperatures are here to stay as the fall season begins Sunday - but don't head indoors just yet.
With rain showers and a possible thunderstorm forecast for Saturday, you'll want to dress accordingly for the Grant Thornton Run in Colour.
More than 500 have already signed up for the fun-spirited 5 km race that will leave runners splattered in colour. After passing through four colour stations at various city parks runners will cross the finish line in rainbow shades. (Note the powder-based colours are both food safe and eco-friendly).
It's the first event of its kind for the city and raises money needed for patient care and new equipment at the Kelowna General Hospital.
You can register today from noon to 6 p.m. at the Rotary Centre for the Arts or on Saturday morning at Waterfront Park before the race kicks off at 10 a.m.
For those who want to keep their shirts clean, head over to City Park for a free lesson in healthy living.
Saturday's Thrive Health Festival will showcase 20 local organizations, sports and food groups to get Okanagan residents on the path to wellness. Free food and recipes, a kids zone along with keynote speakers and stage activities are hosted by the Central Okanagan Division of Family Practice. The festivities are planned, rain or shine, from noon to 4 p.m.
