KAMLOOPS - The provincial health minister isn’t saying who approved pay hikes for managers in the Provincial Health Services Authority.
Kamloops MP Terry Lake says the PHSA board of directors didn’t approve the wage increases.
“The board stated today that it is reviewing its legal options for addressing the increases, which were not in compliance with government wage policy. All health authorities have been reminded that there cannot be any variance from the policy in place,” says Lake in a news release.
"As Minister of Health, I was disappointed to learn that the wage policy of government was not followed.”
Lake was recently appointed to premier Christy Clark’s cabinet and this is the first controversy he’s had to handle.
