Kamloops man faces drug trafficking charges

KAMLOOPS - Three months after a search warrant was conducted at a Valleyview residence, RCMP have announced charges against a 21-year-old Kamloops man.

Nathan Anthony Townsend is facing charges of possession for purpose of trafficking after 224 grams of cocaine and 1,446 grams of marijuana was seized from a house in the 2800-block of Valleyview Drive on Feb. 25, RCMP say in a release. A shotgun and crossbow were also seized from the residence.

When Townsend was arrested in a vehicle on Westsyde Road later that morning police found a ‘substantial amount of cash’ on him.

RCMP believe the drug seizure is linked to organized crime.

Townsend will next appear in court May 30.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie notes RCMP were waiting on drug analysis and the approval of charges before releasing any further information about the arrest of Townsend.
