Kamloops Long Blades return from busy weekend

Members of the Kamloops Long Blades Speed Skating Club were back in action in two separate events this past weekend.

At the Winter Classic Long Track Competition held at the Calgary Olympic Oval, Sylvie Lloyd achieved personal best times in the 1000m and 3000m while Isaiah Jessie Uribe raced to personal best times in the 500m, 1000m and 1500m.

In addition, Isaiah achieved his Canada Cup Time Standard which will allow him to join Sylvie Lloyd and Thom Keijzer (who achieved theirs earlier in the season) at Canada Cup #4 in Calgary next month. Thom has been skating many personal bests over the season while racing in Holland and is looking forward to joining his Kamloops Long Blades teammates in Calgary.

Meanwhile, 18 skaters competed at the Okanagan FUNale in Vernon on Saturday.

Jacob Beesley,  Keidis Corrigan, Dawson Doern, Emily Heinen, Jared Roberts, Nelson Smith and Samantha Stadfeld all skated to three personal best times out of four races while Caleb Van der Merwe raced an impressive four personal best times out of four races. In addition, the Kamloops Long Blades Speed Skating Club won the Interclub Challenge Trophy for the most points accumulated during the Okanagan Interclub Meets this season.

Next up - Kamloops Long Blade skater Kris Pynten will be skating at  the Western Elite Circuit #3 at the Calgary Oval next weekend.
