KAMLOOPS - Kamloops raised Josh Wolfram is headed to Sweden to play pro basketball.

The South Kamloops Secondary graduate and Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack member is headed to the Umeå BSKT in Umeå, Sweden, according to a press release from Slan Sports Management.

“It’s a dream come true to sign a professional contract in Europe,” Wolfram says in the release. “I want to thank everyone who has supported me."

His Swedish team is already excited for their Canadian import, Umeå BSKT coach Jesper Gustavsson says.

“We’re looking forward to seeing him in Sweden next season and being a big part of our team,” Gustavsson says in the release. “I’ve heard only good things about him and he should fit great into what we’re doing on and off the court.”

It’s a one year contract, with an optional second year. Wolfram will be staying in Kamloops until he heads to Sweden before the 30 game season.

The 6’10” forward also had offers from teams in Finland and the Czech Republic, says a release from the university. Aside from playing basketball for the Wolfpack and his high school team, Wolfram played two seasons with the University of Calgary Dinos and for Team Canada at the 2015 international university games in South Korea.

Wolfram isn't the first member of the South Kamloops Secondary Titans to play basketball professionally. Two of his high school teammates went pro: Kelly Olynyk is a regular with the Boston Celtics and John Bantock played in the United Kingdom, according to the university’s press release.
