KAMLOOPS – RCMP have a suspect in custody after a robbery at a 7-Eleven in Kamloops this morning.

Police say at about 7:51 a.m., March 12, a man was caught trying to steal items at the convenience store on Seymour Street.

The suspect “indicated” to the clerk he had a gun in his pockets, according to a RCMP media release, although no weapon was seen.

The man took off with the stolen items. The store employee wasn’t hurt.

“Kamloops RCMP officers were on scene within minutes and were able to swiftly identify and apprehend the male through descriptions provided by the store employee and a witness on scene,” Sgt. Karen Delorey says in the release.

Delorey says the suspect didn’t have a weapon when he was arrested and there wasn’t one anywhere near him.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
