KAMLOOPS – Carsharing is coming to Kamloops. The Board of Directors of the Interior CarShare Co-operative is pleased to invite the public and media to an information session on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smorgasbord Deli located on 7 Avenue near Victoria Street.
Interior CarShare Cooperative (InCar) was registered as a non-profit cooperative organization in February 2014. The organization's vision is to provide a new economically and environmentally friendly transportation option to the community through carsharing. InCar follows a model of other carshare co-operatives established throughout the province in similar sized cities such as Kelowna and Nanaimo.
InCar now has a number of individual and joint members. As the number of individual and organizational members grows, “The group is getting ready to take the critical step of actually going out and buying the CarShare vehicles,“ said Dylan Houlihan, acting president of InCar.
The group is also conducting a brief survey which can be found on the home page of the InCar website: www.interiorcarshare.ca.
The board of InCar is grateful for the support of several key organizations including Interior Savings Credit Union, B.C. Hydro, Enterprising Non-Profits, Urban Systems, B.C. Sustainable Energy Association, and the Smorgasbord Deli.
The info session on Feb. 26 is open to the public and interested persons will have the opportunity to register as InCar members at the event.
