The Kamloops Art Gallery Board of Trustees is delighted to announce that by a unanimous vote, the Board approved the appointment of Margaret Chrumka as the new Executive Director of the Kamloops Art Gallery, effective November 8, 2016.

Margaret Chrumka joined the Gallery in 2012 as the Manager of Operations and took on the role of Interim Executive Director following the passing of Jann LM Bailey in October 2015. She brings over 20 years experience in marketing, development and leadership in the post-secondary and arts sector.

“Margaret’s dedication, passion and commitment to the Gallery through thick and thin, impressed the Board along with her ability to guide the Gallery and engage our community,” says Board Chair, Jaimie Drew.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, Chrumka will promote the vision, mission and mandate of the Kamloops Art Gallery. She will implement and oversee the Gallery’s strategic and operational plans, promote the Gallery domestically and internationally, and nurture and develop relationships with the Gallery’s various stakeholders.

Chrumka holds a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Victoria (1987) and a Masters of Arts in History (1989) from the University of Toronto. She is an active member of the museum and gallery community, serving as a member of the Canadian Museum Association’s 2017 and 2018 national conference planning committees.

“I am deeply honoured to have been chosen to lead the Kamloops Art Gallery,” says Chrumka. “This Gallery has a long history of presenting exhibitions and programs of excellence that capture the minds of our visitors. I look forward to continuing to engage and inspire our audiences.” Please join us in congratulating Margaret Chrumka and welcoming her to her new role with the Kamloops Art Gallery.
