KELOWNA – Men and women from seven countries will be putting their goofy feet forward at a wake surfing competition in Kelowna this week.

Athletes who have earned enough points this year to qualify will be at Hot Sands Beach in Kelowna competing for their share of $50,000 at the 22nd Centurion World Wake Surfing Championship.

Wake surfers from Canada, the United States, France, Austria, Japan, Switzerland and the United Kingdom will compete in five divisions, including juniors, professionals and masters.

It starts Thursday, Sept. 21 and runs from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. every day until Saturday, Sept. 23.

You can meet some of the competitors at the Keg Steakhouse Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The event website says there will be an after party at an undisclosed location following the awards ceremony at the Sandman Hotel Okanagan on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
