Interim fire chief appointed as Kelowna looks to hire new one

Deputy Chief Lou Wilde will be Kelowna's interim Fire Chief.

KELOWNA - The City of Kelowna has made deputy fire chief Lou Wilde the interim fire chief.

Wilde is temporarily replacing fire chief Jeff Carlisle who announced his retirement earlier this month. Wilde's appointment to the interim fire chief position begins March 3, according to a City media release.

The City says Wilde has been with the Kelowna Fire Department for over 30 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has led the Fire Prevention, Training and Administration Branch.

The City is on the hunt for a new fire chief and expects to complete the hiring process by this spring.
