People receiving services through the Employment Program of B.C. could be eligible for up to a maximum of $7,500 in tuition funding toward skills training.
The amount of support previously available for unemployed British Columbians was capped at $4,000. To receive help, job seekers must first meet with employment advisors through WorkBC Employment Services Centres to sort out the supports and services needed to find employment. Individual needs will determine how much of the $7,500 will be required for the skills training program chosen. Programs are geared toward addressing an identified labour market need.
The increased tuition support will be effective as of Nov. 19.
