VANCOUVER - 'DEADPOOL 2' DEATH: INVESTIGATORS RELEASE DETAILS

An initial incident report released by WorkSafe BC says a stuntwoman on the movie "Deadpool 2" was killed after driving beyond a planned stopping spot during filming on Monday.

The report says the "worker," identified by the BC Coroners Service as SJ Harris, had stopped during rehearsal after going out of a building and down one ramp built over three stairs.

But it says she hit a concrete curb and was thrown off her bike and through a plate glass window when she continued down a second ramp and across the road during the first shooting of the scene.

WorkSafe BC is continuing to investigate and a full report from the local production company is due one month from the incident.

PROVINCE OFFERS FUNDING FOR WILDFIRE AFFECTED TOURISM INDUSTRY

British Columbia's NDP government has announced up to $200,000 in funding to help tourism businesses in the Cariboo region hit hard by the wildfire crisis.

Tourism Minister Lisa Beare said the funding will be provided to the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association to help businesses recover after the fires led to evacuations and cancellations.

Many have lost income during the peak revenue-generating summer season and some have lost property, she said.

The Cariboo Regional District expanded two evacuation orders late Thursday as rural residents near Nazko and Kleena Kleene, both more than 100 kilometres southwest of Prince George, were told to leave due to separate wildfires.

B.C. PREMIER CONDEMNS HATE SPEECH AHEAD OF RALLIES

Premier John Horgan said he supports those planning to attend anti-racism events to counter what he describes as a rally by hate groups in Vancouver.

Horgan said in a statement Friday the recent violence in Charlottesville, Virginia was horrifying but the reality is that hate groups also organize and operate in Canada.

He said hatred has no place in the province and those confronted by hate have a responsibility to take action.

Horgan added he hopes those attending anti-racism rallies Saturday have a peaceful and safe demonstration.

THREE PEOPLE ARRESTED IN WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C., DRUG BUST

RCMP say three people have been arrested after they received a tip about illicit drug activity at a home in Williams Lake.

Police said they executed a search warrant on the residence Friday and seized a large amount of Canadian currency, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin and numerous pills.

Insp. Jeff Pelley said targeting illicit drug trafficking remains a priority for the detachment even through its wildfire deployment.

The three people arrested have been released and are to appear in Williams Lake Provincial Court in October.

B.C. GOVERNMENT TO EXPAND WILDLIFE FENCING ON COQUIHALLA HWY

The province is expanding fencing along the Coquihalla Highway aimed at preventing collisions between vehicles and wildlife.

The Transportation Ministry said work will begin this fall to add 10 kilometres of wildlife-exclusion fencing south of Merritt.

It will add to the 160 kilometres of fencing that already exists on the Coquihalla.

Transportation Minister Claire Trevena said in a news release that increasing the length of exclusion fencing along some of B.C.'s busier routes will keep both motorists and wildlife safe.
