It's not often residents in the Southern Interior get to see a show put on by the northern lights, but earlier this week that's exactly what they got.

On Wednesday night, Sept. 27, colours of purple and green splashed across the sky in the Thompson-Okanagan and area photographers were able to capture images of the aurora borealis including Hoang Vu in Kamloops.

The phenomenon could also be seen in Vernon where photographer Jordan McGrath took photographs in the early morning hours of Sept. 28.

"There is something so surreal about watching a big green blob dance around in the sky," he says on his Facebook page. "It just doesn't seem real, the whole sky moves and ripples like ribbon."
