Police say B.C. homicide victim had ties to Alberta gangs

RICHMOND, B.C. - A 25-year-old man who was found dead in Richmond, B.C., has been tied by police to gang activity in Alberta.

The body of Theoren Poitras was found around 12:30 a.m. Oct. 2 in a local park in the city south of Vancouver.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Poitras was known to police in Alberta for his involvement in gang activity and his death appears to have been targeted.

But police say the motive for the homicide remains a mystery and they are not yet releasing a cause.

Investigators are looking for anybody who was around Talmey Elementary School between 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 1:30 a.m. Oct. 2 and who observed suspicious persons or vehicles.
