Holiday closures around Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - Over the holidays there are many changes to hours and many closures around the city, including recreation facilities, libraries, transit and City Hall.

The Tournament Capital Centre, including the Canada Games Pool, Westsyde Pool, and City Hall will all be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The recreation facilities will also close early — at 5 p.m. — on both Dec. 24 and 31.

The Kamloops YMCA will also have reduced hours over the holidays. The Downtown location will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 31 but will be closed on Christmas Day. Boxing Day the facility will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and New Year’s Day from noon to 5 p.m. The John Tod Centre location will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The local libraries will run normal hours over the holidays, except Dec. 24 and 31 when both the Downtown and North Shore locations are only open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1 when they will both be closed.

Buses will run a Sunday schedule on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and on Christmas Day there will not be any transit service. Kamloops Transit will be offering extended hours on Dec. 31 though.

Also keep in mind that the holidays will affect the garbage and recycling pick up cycle, with no collection planned for Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
