OKANAGAN FALLS - Highway 97 was closed last night after a semi trailer rolled and burst into flames near Okanagan Falls.

Penticton RCMP spokesperson Rick Dellebuur says emergency crews, including RCMP and the Okanagan Falls Fire Department, were called to a sharp corner on Waterman’s Hill on Highway 97 just north of Okanagan Falls around 7:30 p.m., Nov. 7.

A semi trailer, carrying a load of apples, rolled after the driver attempted to miss a deer on the road, and burst into flames, Dellebuur says. The driver wasn't hurt.

The highway was shut down between White Lake Road and Okanagan Falls last night, but has since reopened to single lane alternating traffic.
