Mission Creek Greenway Regional Park
The Regional Board has approved renewing an agreement between the Regional District and City of Kelowna for Regional District management and operation of Mission Creek Greenway Regional Park. The agreement will run for five years. In addition, the Regional Board supports allowing staff to submit an application to the Province, to reassign two Provincial Crown Land License of Occupation tenures associated with the Greenway that are held by the City to the Regional District. The agreement and tenure reassignment application also requires the approval of Kelowna Council.
Kelowna Dirt Bike Club Special Events
The Regional Board has approved four Special Events Permits for the Kelowna Dirt Bike Club for its 2014 season. The club can hold four special race events at its facility adjacent to Bear Creek Forest Service Road that are exempt from provisions of the Noise Bylaw. All other activities at the track including Wednesday and Sunday practises are subject to a mutual consent order which restricts bikes to a maximum sound of 96 decibels. The facility does not operate during the dry months of July and August.
Crystal Resort Application Extension
The Regional Board has approved a request to extend the rezoning application on behalf of Crystal Ski and Golf Resort for an additional six months. The proponents would like the application to remain open as they continue efforts to attract potential investors and address requirements of the Regional District in order to gain approval for the proposed first phase of expansion at the resort.
