Help launch new Penticton arts festival with a vote for the project

The Penticton Arts Council is creating a new arts festival for next September and would like your vote in support of an Aviva grant.

PENTICTON - A Penticton arts group is starting a new arts festival and need you're help to vote online.

The Penticton Arts Council is putting together the first annual State of the Arts Penticton or SOAP Arts and Culture Festival. It will be a three-day, multi-venue community wide event scheduled for Sept. 21 to Sept. 24, 2017.

The festival will include culinary arts, music, visual and performing arts, spoken word, plays, theatre performances film production, photography and creative writing.

Penticton Arts Council executive director Vaelei Walkden-Brown says the group is hoping to get a $5,400 Aviva grant. She says amount handed out by the insurance company is dependent on the number of votes they get.

Walkden-Brown says the money will be used to cover equipment and materials for festival.

The arts group has until Friday, Oct. 28 to collect votes.
