Hazard Tree Pruning along the Mission Creek Greenway

Cyclists wind around the water's edge this morning along the Mission Creek Greenway entrance near Lakeshore Drive.

KELOWNA - One section of the Mission Creek Greenway that has been closed periodically over the last two weeks is open again, while another 2.4 kilometer portion will be closed for most of the next week.

The section of the recreational trail between KLO Road and Casorso Road on the north side of Mission Creek will be closed from Monday, March 23rd through Thursday, March 26th.  No public access is permitted during this time to allow workers with heavy equipment to prune and remove debris from large, hazard trees.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and asks for their safety that Greenway users please obey any barricades, signs and flag people and stay out of any closed areas.

Meanwhile, the Lakeshore Road to Gordon Drive section of the Greenway that has had temporary closures since March 9th for vegetation and dike maintenance is open again for use.

Funding from Regional Parks and the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Public Safety and Protection Branch are being used to complete this latest safety work.

Residents are encouraged to use other areas of the Greenway while this new work is underway between Casorso to KLO Roads.

For more information on the trail closure, please contact the Regional Parks office at 469-6232.
