Four new Toyotas go missing from Penticton car lot

RCMP want information on who stole four brand new Toyotas from the Penticton Toyota dealership.

PENTICTON - Four brand new Toyotas parked on the Penticton Toyota lot went missing and there was no sign whether the alleged thieves even unwrapped their gifts.

General sales manager Larry Pidperyhora said the four vehicles were covered in protective plastic wrappings, which are difficult to remove, and each had minimal fuel in the tanks. The four vehicles were part of a group of nine delivered to the lot on Monday night.

Pidperyhora said the vehicles must have went missing sometime after they were dropped off and before staff arrived at work on Tuesday morning. There was no sign of the protective wrappings. Gone are two 2014 blue Toyota Rav 4 sport utility vehicles, a 2014 grey Toyota 4-Runner sport utility vehicle and one 2014 bronze Toyota Tundra pickup. The vehicles have not been registered and their combined value is more than $100,000.

He said nothing like this has ever happened at the lot since since he started working there in 1997. There have been single vehicle thefts and damages before and one time a prospective buyer took a car for a test drive and never returned it but never four vehicles taken.

"I'm just kind of beside myself today," he said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
