KELOWNA - An evacuation alert has been issued for five properties in the Central Okanagan.

The five properties are all located on the north end of Westside Road near Killiney Beach. Residents affected by the alert should prepare to leave at a moments notice if conditions change, according to a press release from Central Okanagan Emergency Operations, including placing sandbags and removing items from areas likely to be flooded, like basements or crawlspaces.

The residences under alert are:

  • 9415, 9425, 9435 and 9445 Hodges Road
  • 9467 Kilkenny Place

As of 11:25 a.m. today, May 27, the lake had reached 343.05 m. The B.C. River Forecast Centre has predicted the lake will likely reach a peak of 343.15 m.

Over the next few days the water flow in Mission Creek in Kelowna is expected to increase due to the hot weather, according to the release. The situation is being monitored.
