Final public input session tonight for 2013 budget

The final public input session with the City regarding the 2013 Kamloops' Financial Budget is being held tonight.

It's the final chance for Kamloops residents to have a say in the 2013 financial budget.

In the third and final public input session held by the city tonight, discussions will be centred around corporate services and community safety as well as the development and engineering services department.

The development and engineering department is responsible for building inspection, engineering, land development engineering, planning and development, as well as real estate.

The evening will begin with a presentation regarding the department's operating and capital budgets as well as service levels.

This evening's presentations can be accessed here.

Council values public input sessions for a better understanding of community interests, concerns, and ideas. Feedback presented at the public input meetings may affect future budget decisions.

There are several ways for Kamloops residents to tune into meetings. For those unable to attend in person, a live broadcast is available online and includes a live chartroom. The City also encourages an online conversation via Twitter using the hashtag: #kamloopsbudget.

Final deliberations regarding the public input sessions will take place on April 9 at 9 a.m. in council chambers to determine the final tax rate for 2013.

Tonight's budget meeting takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Interior Savings Centre.
