Police say consensual fight leads to stabbing in Chilliwack, B.C.

CHILLIWACK, B.C. - A Chilliwack, B.C., man faces charges of assault with a weapon and aggravated assault after a stabbing.

RCMP say it started Wednesday afternoon with what was a consensual fight between two people, but escalated to assault when a third person stepped in and stabbed one of the combatants with a knife.

Mounties called for a police dog when the suspect took off.

He was found and arrested a short distance away.

The 44-year-old is due in a Chilliwack court Thursday.

Police say the victim was taken to hospital with injuries that aren't life threatening.
