CIS Football: Ward's field goals carry Gee-Gees to 38-18 upset of Marauders

OTTAWA - Lewis Ward's kicks carried the Ottawa Gee-Gees to one of the biggest upsets of the Canadian university football season.

Ward had five field goals — including one from 43 yards out — with three conversions as unranked Ottawa stunned the No. 3 McMaster Marauders 38-18 on Saturday in CIS action.

The Gee-Gees came alive in the second half scoring 27 points en route to handing the Marauders their first loss of the year and securing their own spot in the OUA playoffs.

Ottawa's defence held McMaster's offence to just 137 yards and six points in the second half.

Bryce Vieira ran for 170 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries for the Gee-Gees (5-3).

Marshall Ferguson passed for 148 yards and a touchdown for the Marauders (7-1), while Asher Hastings threw 118 yards and a TD.
