Fawn fished from family pool as conservation officer becomes Bambi benefactor

KELOWNA, B.C. - A feisty fawn has cheated death in Kelowna, B.C., thanks to some timely help from a local conservation officer.

Terry Myroniuk says the curious fawn squeezed through a fence surrounding a backyard swimming pool at a home in Kelowna's north end, not far from a large wilderness park.

The little creature tumbled into the pool and had no way to pull itself out.

Myroniuk says fortunately it was able to stay afloat by hooking its front legs over part of a pool liner covering the water.

A snare pole was used to lasso the frightened fawn and lift it to safety.

Myroniuk says the baby has been returned to the general area where its mother was last seen, and he's confident the pair will be reunited. (CKFR)
