68-year-old driver, passenger, 70, victims of deadly Vancouver crash

Vancouver Police say a 68-year-old man and 70-year-old woman were the victims of the single vehicle crash that also injured three pedestrians in downtown Vancouver.

Acting Sgt. Brian Montague says the man and woman were in a white Lexus SUV that veered out of control while travelling northbound on Seymour Street, just south of Davie Street, late Monday afternoon.

The vehicle slammed into a tree, shearing it off, before flipping and skidding on its side into a pole.

Three pedestrians at the busy intersection also suffered various injuries ranging from cuts and bruises to a broken leg and punctured lung.

All three men, in their 30s, are expected to recover.

Montague says while it is clear speed was a factor, investigators will work with the coroner to determine if the driver suffered a medical condition just before the crash.
