Enjoy warm weather while it lasts

The water park at Albert McGowan has reopened thanks to a warm, sunny forecast.

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - Enjoy the weekend while it lasts — another blast of heat is coming our way this weekend but there'll be a significant drop in temperatures Monday.

Temperatures will reach as much as 30 Celsius in the region and the sun in expected to shine throughout the weekend. Kamloops will see the warmest temperatures at 29-30 C though Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton will only be a couple degrees behind at 27-28 C.

This jump in temperatures means the Albert McGowan water park in Kamloops, which is normally already shut down for the season, has been reopened as of today, Friday, Sept. 5 and will remain open for the next week, depending on weather.

The three water parks in Kelowna are scheduled to shut down after Saturday, as part of the normal seasonal schedule.

While all parts of the region will be above the seasonal normals of 22-24 C we will still be a few degrees below record temperatures, which have reached as high as 31-33 C on Sept. 7.

By Monday temperatures will drop back down to the 21-23 range along with cloud cover and a 40-60 per cent chance of showers and Tuesday will cool down even further with highs expected to only hit 20-21 C.
