Enderby man connected with three robberies

Gord Molendyk

A third robbery in four nights may be the last by a man from Enderby. On Dec. 31, the Rosedale Grocery in Armstrong was robbed, and RCMP believe the suspect is the same man who robbed the Enderby Liquor Store and Enderby Dollar Store.

Around 6 p.m., the man jumped over the counter at Rosedale Grocery, opened the till and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. The grocery's owner confronted the man with a baseball bat and the suspect fled the store. Witnesses say there was a second suspect waiting outside, and that the two fled the scene in a maroon van.

A maroon van was discovered by police in the Upper Sahali area of Kamloops just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night. The driver of the van rammed into a police cruiser as he attempted to escape, and was arrested after crashing his vehicle into a pole. RCMP have connected the man with the Enderby Liquor Store robbery, and officers are looking into the possibility that he was involved in all the recent robberies in the Enderby and Armstrong areas.

"(RCMP) are very sure the individual arrested in Kamloops is connected with the robberies in Armstrong and Enderby," RCMP Spokesperson Gord Molendyk said. "(The suspect) remains in custody in Kamloops."
