Elderly pedestrian struck in Kamloops crosswalk

KAMLOOPS - An elderly woman was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the street at the corner of Lansdowne Street and 2 Avenue yesterday.

Witnesses told police the woman had the right-of-way, but the driver failed to yield while making a left hand turn and hit the woman while she was in the crosswalk.

The incident happened at about 3:50 p.m. The driver was issued a violation ticket.

The woman was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.
